ArtisJet UV Printer Maintenance Schedule: The Ultimate Daily, Weekly & Troubleshooting Guide

When you invest in a UV printer, you’re not just buying a machine—you’re buying a business opportunity. And like any good investment, it needs care. That’s why creating and following a proper ArtisJet UV printer maintenance schedule is key to keeping your printer running smoothly, your prints looking sharp, and your downtime at zero.

This comprehensive guide covers daily routines, weekly deep cleans, and what to do when nozzles aren’t firing—so whether you’re just starting out or managing a busy print room, you’ll always stay ahead of the curve.

✅ Daily Maintenance Routine: Start Every Day Strong

Think of daily maintenance like brushing your teeth—it doesn’t take long, but skipping it will cost you later. Here’s what to do:

🧤 Step 1: Get Prepped

Remove the dust cover and put on your protective gloves. UV ink can irritate skin, and things might get messy.

🧼 Step 2: Empty the Waste Ink Container

On the left side of the printer, you’ll find the waste ink disposal system.

  1. Disconnect the two tubes: the large one (waste) and the filler tube.

  2. Rest both tubes on a cloth to avoid spills.

  3. Remove the waste container, and pour the contents into a spare disposal container.

  4. Clean the container and cap thoroughly.

  5. Reconnect the tubes securely—make sure the filler tube reaches the bottom to avoid dislodging during operation.

💡 Why? Ignoring this step can cause blockages, overflows, and ink errors.

🧪 Step 3: Shake the White Ink Cartridges

White ink separates faster than other colors. Remove each white cartridge, give it a gentle shake, and reinsert it firmly.

⚖️ Step 4: Check Ink Levels (for older models)

Weigh each cartridge—if it’s 200g or less, replace it. Newer models do this automatically.

🖨️ Step 5: Prepare for Printing

  • Clear the print bed of any objects.

  • Power on the printer and allow the self-check to complete.

  • Apply clear tape to the print bed.

  • Raise the bed using auto-position, and perform a nozzle check via the software.

💡 Why? This ensures your nozzles are firing cleanly and your first print of the day is perfect.

🧼 Weekly Maintenance Routine: Deeper Cleaning for Long-Term Health

Once a week, take 30–45 minutes to perform this deeper clean:

🔧 Step 1: Clean Wiper Blade & Cap Top

  • Lower the print bed and turn off the printer.

  • Move the printhead manually to the center.

  • Place a lint-free cloth under the printhead.

  • Clean the wiper blade using a cotton swab:

    1. Back side

    2. Front side

    3. Back again

  • Clean the cap top with a lint-free cloth—outer edges, then gently the center.

🎯 Step 2: Clean Around the Printhead

  • Use a second cotton swab to clean the corners and outer edges of the printhead.

  • Wrap a cloth around your finger and wipe the center of the printhead from back to front only—never side to side.

💧 Step 3: Refill the UV Lamp Cooling Liquid (for older models)

  • Open the right side panel using a 2.5mm Allen key (8 screws).

  • Use a syringe with antifreeze to fill the liquid container halfway.

  • Reattach the panel and screws.

💡 Newer ArtisJet printers have a built-in cooling system, so you can skip this step.

🔁 Final Step: Restart & Test

  • Power on the printer.

  • Let it initialize.

  • Run a quick nozzle check if needed.

  • You’re ready to print again.

🧩 Troubleshooting: What to Do When Nozzles Aren’t Firing

Sometimes, even with good maintenance, you might see broken lines or gaps. That means some nozzles aren’t firing.

📋 Step 1: Confirm with a Nozzle Check

  • Place clear tape on the bed.

  • Raise the bed and press auto-position.

  • Use the ArtisJet software to perform a nozzle check.

  • Compare the result to the software reference.

If your pattern looks clean—you’re good. If not, start a head cleaning via the software or printer keypad.

🧪 Step 2: Manual Damper Cleaning (Only If Needed)

Still not printing correctly? Time to get hands-on.

  1. Lower the bed and turn off the printer.

  2. Remove the carriage cover using a 2.5mm Allen key (5 screws total).

  3. You’ll see 8 dampers, each connected to a color:

    • 1, 2, 3, 6 = White

    • 4 = Yellow

    • 5 = Cyan

    • 7 = Black

    • 8 = Magenta

Let’s say your magenta nozzle printed incorrectly. That means damper 8 is the issue.

  • Place a cotton pad over damper 7 (Black) to avoid cross-contamination.

  • Use an empty syringe to draw 10ml of ink from damper 8.

  • This removes air bubbles and restores ink flow.

🔄 Step 3: Test Again

  • Reassemble the cover.

  • Power on the printer.

  • Run one more cleaning and nozzle check.
